As musculoskeletal disorders become increasingly common among working-age populations, Imexpharm introduces effective and affordable treatment solutions while accompanying healthcare professionals in updating medical knowledge and practical applications.
Effective and Affordable Solutions for Musculoskeletal Disorders in Vietnam
On May 14, 2026, Imexpharm organized the scientific seminar "Dual pain relief and anti-inflammatory effect in managing musculoskeletal disorders: from guidelines to practice" at White Palace Convention Center. The event attracted around 200 community pharmacists from Ho Chi Minh City (Binh Tan District), Dong Nai, Binh Duong, Tien Giang, and Vung Tau, along with nearly 2,000 participants joining online.
The seminar focused on updating treatment trends and practical consultation for musculoskeletal disorders, which are becoming increasingly common and affecting younger populations in Vietnam. According to the Vietnam Association of Rheumatology, approximately 30% of people over 45 years old suffer from osteoarthritis. Notably, musculoskeletal health is often neglected until signs of aging or persistent pain emerge
At the seminar,
MD. Nguyen Dinh Thong (Spec. II), Head of the Musculoskeletal Internal Medicine Department at Nguyen Tri Phuong Hospital, shared insights on "Ibuprofen in musculoskeletal pain management: From guidelines to practice." Additionally,
Assoc. Prof. Nguyen Tuan Dung, Ph.D., former Head of the Clinical Pharmacy Department at the University of Medicine and Pharmacy at Ho Chi Minh City, discussed counseling skills for Ibuprofen at pharmacies.
According to the organizing committee, the seminar served not only as a platform for updating clinical knowledge but also as an opportunity to connect experts, pharmacists, and pharmacy networks to enhance counseling effectiveness and help patients access suitable treatment solutions.
During the event,
Ms. Lam Thi Ngoc Dung, Deputy Marketing Manager of Imexpharm, introduced a new Ibuprofen-based product developed by the Company. The product is designed to support pain relief and anti-inflammatory treatment for musculoskeletal disorders, as well as common pain conditions such as dental pain, menstrual cramps, and back pain.
Leveraging over 10 years of investment in EU-GMP manufacturing facilities and more than 20 years of operating WHO-GMP certified factories, Imexpharm is accelerating its R&D activities to meet practical treatment needs. The Company focuses on prevalent disease groups, including musculoskeletal, respiratory, and digestive disorders, as well as non-communicable diseases (NCDs).
According to the Company, patients today prioritize not only clinical effectiveness but also convenience, accessibility, and cost-efficiency. Consequently, alongside expanding its OTC portfolio, Imexpharm is committed to developing high-quality, affordable treatment solutions to alleviate the medical cost burden for Vietnamese people, staying true to its mission: “Delivering High-Efficiency Solutions for Community Health.” Furthermore, organizing and sponsoring medical seminars to update clinical knowledge for healthcare professionals remains a core part of the Company’s strategy to enhance community healthcare quality.
WHO: Musculoskeletal Disorders Increasingly Prevalent Among Working-Age Populations
According to the World Health Organization (WHO), musculoskeletal disorders encompass more than 150 conditions-including back and neck pain, osteoarthritis, and rheumatoid arthritis-affecting nearly 2 billion people globally. While these conditions can occur at any stage of life, they are becoming increasingly prevalent among the working-age population, often resulting in chronic pain, limited mobility, and significant impacts on labor productivity and quality of life.
Workplace pressure, occupational demands, and sedentary lifestyles are identified as key factors leading to the earlier onset of myalgia (muscle pain), backaches, and joint inflammation.
“I’ve realized that my daily routine consists almost entirely of sitting or lying down. I sit during my commute, then stay seated at my desk until evening. By the time I get home, I’m so exhausted that I just lie down. This lack of movement makes my body feel sluggish and achy. The real issue is that the more I ache, the more I hesitate to exercise,” shared Ms. Ngoc Tu, an office worker in Ho Chi Minh City.
Beyond office workers, laborers in other sectors face similar challenges. Manual laborers who frequently perform heavy lifting or maintain static postures for long periods subject their musculoskeletal systems to prolonged mechanical stress. Meanwhile, recreational athletes or those engaging in high-intensity exercise without adequate recovery are prone to myalgia, joint inflammation, and overuse injuries.
According to the World Health Organization (WHO), musculoskeletal conditions are the leading contributor to rehabilitation needs globally. This group of disorders represents a significant proportion of adults requiring rehabilitation and is often comorbid with other non-communicable diseases, such as cardiovascular disease, while also impacting mental health.
In the context of rising musculoskeletal prevalence and increasing pressure on healthcare systems, Imexpharm’s launch of new treatment solutions enables individuals to take proactive health measures, thereby reducing the long-term clinical and financial burdens of treatment.
