The Mekong Delta Health Sector Tennis Tournament – Imexpharm Cup XII, 2019 took place over the weekend on May 11-12, 2019 in Chau Doc City, An Giang Province.
The annual event, which rotates hosting duties among provinces of the Mekong Delta, commemorates the 44th anniversary of the liberation and reunification of Vietnam (April 30), the Int’l Day (May 1) and President Ho Chi Minh’s birthday (May 19). The event was organized under the motto "Health for Building and Defending the Nation."
The Imexpharm Cup is a highly anticipated annual event, dedicated to promoting sports, especially tennis, throughout the region. Its mission is to cultivate a spirit of solidarity and friendship among healthcare organizations across the Mekong Delta provinces. Beyond promoting physical fitness, the tournament serves as a valuable opportunity for healthcare professionals to connect, exchange expertise, and share knowledge, strengthening bonds within the healthcare community.
The Imexpharm Cup XII was a remarkable event this year, bringing together 13 teams and over 100 athletes competing across 7 categories. Over the years, Imexpharm has built a skilled organizing and logistics team, working closely with local health, sports, and cultural departments to elevate the tournament to near-national standards of professionalism. Despite early rains in Chau Doc City that initially posed some challenges, the organizers adapted flexibly to ensure smooth proceedings. The late-night matches added a thrilling atmosphere, invigorating both athletes and spectators and making the event truly memorable.
In 2020, the Tra Vinh Province Department of Health will host the 13th Mekong Delta Health Sector Tennis Tournament – Imexpharm Cup XIII. Tra Vinh promises to be an exciting destination for the visiting teams and participants, with its warm-hearted people and culturally diverse, multi-ethnic, and multi-religious landscape. Besides the tournament, participants will have the opportunity to experience the unique cultural features of the area.
