On May 13-14, 2017, the Ca Mau Department of Health, in collaboration with its long-time sponsor Imexpharm, organized the Southern Health Sector Tennis Tournament - Imexpharm Cup 2017. This prestigious tournament, known for its high level of expertise, rotates among the Department of Health of various provinces in the region. The 2017 edition celebrated the 10th anniversary of the tournament’s ongoing success.
Recognizing the immense responsibility and focus required in the medical and pharmaceutical fields, Imexpharm proposed the idea of an annual tennis tournament to provide healthcare professionals with a meaningful outlet for recreation and connection. The initiative quickly gained enthusiastic support from leaders, doctors, pharmacists, and healthcare staff across the Mekong Delta region. Since 2007, Imexpharm has proudly served as the exclusive sponsor of this event, which rotates annually among the Departments of Health in different Mekong Delta provinces.
Over the past decade, the tournament has consistently surpassed expectations, fostering a thriving sports movement, particularly in tennis, across Southern provinces. Recognizing the event’s significance and professional organization, some provinces have even held local competitions to select their best players to compete in the Imexpharm Cup. Provinces known for their strong participation include Dong Thap, An Giang, Hau Giang, Bac Lieu, and Ca Mau.
In 2017, to celebrate the tournament's 10th anniversary, Imexpharm and the Ca Mau Department of Health introduced a special trophy for all 8 competition categories. Players and supporters also received a commemorative tennis towel, and Departments of Health that had consistently supported the event were given a unique ceramic flower vase.
Beyond the competition, the Imexpharm-sponsored tournament created a meaningful platform for healthcare professionals in the region to connect, share knowledge, and exchange experiences in both sports and their medical and pharmaceutical fields. It also served as a reunion for old friends and former classmates, allowing them to reconnect and strengthen bonds during the two-day event.
After two days of spirited competition, the tournament wrapped up on a high note, celebrating champions across all categories and teams. The athletes’ dedication and teamwork were on full display, leaving a lasting impression of strength and camaraderie. The award ceremony and farewell party were joyous occasions, fostering a sense of unity and anticipation for the next season. Excitingly, it was announced that the 2018 tournament would be hosted by the Can Tho Department of Health in the heart of the Mekong Delta, promising yet another thrilling and competitive chapter in this esteemed event.
